Christmas Dinner

Mike and Janice Brady planned and prepared a wonderful dinner for many families in attendance.  They had a fine kitchen crew to help with the serving and cleanup, which included some of this year's new Master Masons.

My son commented on the meal stating, "This year was so much better than last year.  Last year was pretty lame".  Last year we had a pot luck...planned by me.  I didn't think that it was lame, but I do agree that this year was much better.

We also had a bit of caroling lead by Paul.

Better be off to bed with you...and don't forget his cookies.

Want to Learn More about the Craft?

Consider joining the Masonic Lights Program.  It is listed as an awards program, but I have found that it is a well structured program that can help you on your way to further light.  Clicking on the underlined link in the first sentence will take you to the Grand Lodge website where you will find much more detail.

There are nine competencies in which to learn more about Masonry.  If you look into the list of requirements for each, you will find lists of suggested books to read and may realize that much of what you already do is covered in the program.  Though there are likely some that dread getting up in front of a group and presenting, one of the several optional requirements, doing so will enrich your lodge and make for a enlightening educational night.

Whether you decide to join or not, make an effort to learn something new on your own and then share with your brothers.

Final Touches to Budget

The budget should now be in good order.  The Secretary and I will be meeting to go over the budget one last time before the stated meeting.  It's amazing to me how many events we have during the year.  There are still a few loose ends I need to attend to with respect to setting dates for degrees and a few other events.

3rd Degree & 3 New Master Masons

We had our second 3rd degree yesterday making that a total of six degrees for the year.  WB Rich Wogensen presided as master for the first part and WB Fred Herring for the second.

Following the first section we broke for some refreshments.

Lodge Calendar is Getting Squared Away

I was able to put some time into finalizing dates and times for the coming year.  At least some of the early events are ready.  I think that we're going to try a table lodge at the March stated meeting.  This year the lodge will celebrate its 125th anniversary.  We will have a dinner on April 16th at Rudy's Red Eye Grill which is right next to the lodge.  Perhaps there will be ideas for pre and post dinner activities.  There is more to come on this.
